Simple vs Pro terminal
Same data, two interaction models. The simple terminal is fixed-layout dashboards built for scanning. The pro terminal is a command-driven workspace built for users who want to compose their own desk.
The simple terminal
The simple terminal is the set of themed dashboards reachable from the top-level navigation:
/market, risk-on / risk-off cross-asset read with equities breadth, ratios, ETF flows, VIX, credit. Best entry for "what kind of tape am I in?"/perps, cross-exchange perpetual futures health: price, OI, funding, liquidations, CVD, BSV, regime./options, Deribit chain summary: front-expiry expected move, ATM IV, skew, IVRV, P/C, 0DTE dealer gamma./gex, gamma exposure: bucketed dealer positioning, walls, max pain, expected move, strike profiles, the strike × time heatmap./macro, cross-asset context: VIX, 10Y, credit spreads, Fed liquidity, CPI, ETF flows./custom, pick-your-own-charts dashboard, draggable. Bridges into pro panels via the "Add to dashboard" button.
Each dashboard leads with a composite at-a-glance summary card, then unfolds into supporting panels in collapsible sections. No setup, no command bar, open the page, read top-to-bottom.
The pro terminal
The pro terminal lives at /pro. It's a single full-screen workspace with no fixed layout, instead, you spawn panels by typing commands into the bar at the top. Type STUDY BTC, hit Enter, the multi-pane study chart appears. Type GEX BTC, the GEX panel appears next to it. Drag, resize, group by colour, save the layout, switch between named workspaces.
The pro terminal is what you keep open all day if you trade actively. Builds the desk you want, persists across reloads, and exposes every analytics panel BackQuant publishes.
How to choose
They're built for different jobs. Most users land on the simple terminal first; some never leave; many graduate to /pro once their workflow demands it.
| If you want to… | Use… |
|---|---|
| Scan a coin in 30 seconds and move on | Simple, open /perps or /options for the right summary card |
| See whether macro is risk-on or risk-off | Simple, /market |
| Compare three coins side-by-side | Pro, open three Study panels grouped by color, swap symbols freely |
| Have OI, CVD, BSV, and price visible at once | Pro, Study panel with the sub-pane switcher, or four panels side-by-side |
| Work on a strategy and price legs against live IV | Pro, STRATEGY builder + BS pricer panels |
| Run a regression or Monte Carlo against rolling data | Pro, REGR / MC panels, no equivalent on the simple side |
| Build your own pick-your-own-charts page | Simple, /custom |
What about /custom?
/custom sits between the two. It's a dashboard you build by adding charts from a picker, every pro panel can be added via the + button on its header. No command bar, but the layout is yours. Good middle-ground for users who want a fixed personal layout without the pro-terminal's drag-and-drop overhead.
From here: how the command bar works, then your first ten minutes in the pro terminal.
