HELP and FLDS
Two commands solve almost every 'what's the verb for X?' moment. HELP is the categorised in-panel reference; FLDS is the searchable overlay. Same data, two interaction modes.
HELP, the in-panel reference
Type HELP in the command bar and a help panel spawns into the workspace like any other panel. Three tabs:
- Getting Started, the eight essential commands every new user should know (STUDY, PRICE, CHAIN, GEX, SCREEN, RHEAT, HELP, FLDS). One-click to run with the default symbol filled in. Plus a button to replay the onboarding tour.
- Keystrokes, the keyboard shortcut catalogue. Terminal, panel navigation, editing.
- Commands, every verb on the platform, grouped by category (Markets, Options, Volatility, Flow, Strategy, Quant, Universe, Macro, Workspace, Tools). Search box at the top. The categorised version of FLDS.
Because HELP is a panel, it sticks around, drag it to a corner, refer to it while you build your desk. Useful when you're still learning verb names.
FLDS, the searchable overlay
Type FLDS in the command bar (or press F1 at any time) for the function discovery overlay. It opens centered on the screen, dims the workspace behind it, and gives you a single search input.
The overlay groups every command by category, surfaces recently-used commands at the top, and runs full-text search across verbs, aliases, and per-command keywords. Click a tile to run it directly with your default symbol; pre-fill the command bar to type your own ticker.
FLDS is the fast read. Two keystrokes, search, click, done. When you know roughly what you want and just need to remember the verb, FLDS beats opening a HELP panel every time.
The matcher reads English
Both surfaces use the same matcher. It searches verbs, aliases, and per-command keywords. Useful patterns:
- Type
gammain FLDS, surfaces GEX, GREEK, LEVELS, DEALERFLOW, TRACE, GREEKTS. - Type
flow, surfaces PREMFLOW, DEALERFLOW, 0DTEFLOW, OICLASS. - Type
vol, surfaces SURFACE, SMILE, SKEW, IVRV, VRP, DVOL, VCARRY, BFLY, RISKREV, GARCH. - Type
squeeze, surfaces SQUEEZE.
Don't worry about remembering verbs. Worry about remembering nouns. The matcher does the rest.
The panel `?` tooltips
Once a panel is open, every panel header carries a small ? icon. Hover for a structured tooltip with three fields: a one-sentence blurb, three to four bullet points on how to read the chart, and a short note on when the signal is most useful. Designed for non-power-users who've just been dropped into an unfamiliar panel via FLDS.
- HELPOpen the help panel, categorised reference, sticky.
- FLDSSearchable function index overlay (or F1).
